Macy’s Joins The First Ever Coalition Loyalty Program In The US!

March 24, 2015 by Kate

If you haven’t heard the news, I am very thrilled to share that Macy’s a part of the first ever multi-brand loyalty program in the country – which is aptly named Plenti! This program is spearheaded and managed by American Express and is due to launch spring this year in collaboration with the founding merchants, which include Macy’s.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life. Don’t you wish you were able to earn loyalty points for shopping just anywhere? Well, that’s not going to happen anytime soon, but American Express’s Plenti sure does offer the next best thing – earning points while you shop not one, not two … but seven of your favorite brands. In addition to Macy’s, it boasts six other celebrated companies, namely AT&T, ExxonMobil, Nationwide, Rite Aid, Direct Energy, and Hulu! What are the odds? 🙂

American Express’s first multi-brand loyalty program is free to join!

Did you know that more than two thirds of Americans have always wanted a rewards program that does not restrict them to shopping at a single retail chain? I know there are smart consumers out there who shop only their favorite brands, and for good reason I’m sure. That said, having more options is always better so far as earning rewards is concerned. Won’t you agree?

I’m ecstatic American Express has taken it upon itself to introduce something that its competitors are so hesitant to do – and to make sure everyone gets to join in the fun without having to pay an enrollment fee. And for that reason alone, I applaud Macy’s for being one of the founding merchants of this cross-brand loyalty program (in my book that says a lot about the company).

There are Plenti of ways to earn rewards!

While I buy my wardrobe and home essentials at Macy’s, I kind of like the idea of being able to use my rewards elsewhere – and vice versa. That way, I’ll have more options on how to use rewards that are about to expire (that’s one less thing to worry about). American Express has stated that it’s possible to use your Plenti points for a refuel at Exxon or Mobil, a Nationwide insurance, a movie on Hulu, and, you guessed it, a pair of shoes at Macy’s – need I say more? 🙂

In case you’re wondering, Plenti members can earn points by using any payment method – no restrictions whatsoever. Now you might ask, “Can you earn Plenti points when you make a purchase with MasterCard and VISA?” Absolutely! And to answer your next questions, yes you can use debit and even cash. Here’s the best part, you can earn more points every time you take advantage of eligible promotional offers from participating brands.

Plenti will introduce more brands and categories in the future!

So how much money will Plenti members save? About $10 for every 1000 points. With 7 highly visible brands offering a wide variety of product categories, it shouldn’t take long to earn enough points to make substantial savings. Note that American Express is planning on adding more brands to the program, so earning points should be even faster in the foreseeable future!

Well, I’m obviously hyped, so don’t take my word for it. Visit www.plenti.com to see it for yourself! 🙂
